When’s the Best Time to Plant an Advanced Deciduous Tree?

We recommend planting advanced deciduous trees from April through to late September. During these cooler winter months, the trees are dormant, allowing for a smooth transition to their new home with minimal stress. These trees quickly take root and can grow up to a metre within their first year.

How Do I Plant an Advanced Deciduous Tree?

Planting is easy with just three simple steps: dig a suitable hole, place the tree carefully, and backfill. Adding stakes can give the tree extra support during its first two years. Check out our video and diagram below for a step-by-step guide to planting.

How Much Should I Water an Advanced Deciduous Tree?

For the first two years, these trees need regular watering to get established. Generally, a good guide is around 15L twice a week from late spring through early autumn, but it can vary based on tree size and local weather. We’re happy to give you tailored advice based on your tree and location—just ask!

What’s the Best Way to Prune an Advanced Deciduous Tree?

A light prune at planting can be beneficial, but to support healthy growth, leave as much leaf and branch area as possible during the tree’s early stages. Save any heavier pruning or shaping until the tree has gone through a full seasonal cycle.
